Why Treating Fence Panels is so Important

Why Treating Fence Panels is so Important

Summer is the perfect time of year to get outside and give your garden some TLC. Treating your fence panels should be one of the chores on your list of things to do; your fence needs just as much care and attention as anything else in the garden, especially if you want it to last for a long time. If you look after your fence now, you’ll save money in the future that would have otherwise gone on repairs and replacement.

Of course, it’s a great idea to install your fence using fence posts so that it doesn’t come into direct contact with the ground and soak up lots of moisture. Be sure to clear away any debris from around the fence so that it doesn’t work its way into the cracks in the fence. However, these precautions won’t be enough to protect your fence forever.

Our fences are exposed to all sorts of different weather over the course of a year; sun, snow, rain, hail, wind. Eventually the elements begin to take their toll and leave our fences looking a bit worse for wear.  Treating your fence panels will not only give them a tidy up and keep them looking good, it will also strengthen them and protect them from the effects of the weather.

Be sure not to forget about rot and decay either, as this might make an appearance in aging fences. If your fence does start to rot, it’s important to fix the situation as soon as you can so the damage doesn’t spread.

Whether you have a pretty picket fence or something more substantial to improve security on your property, it is certainly wise to treat it so that it lasts as long as possible. For more information, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
