The jobholder will be required to work every Saturday (8 am – 1 pm) and there may be the need to occasionally work additional weekdays (covering the hours of 7am – 5pm). This will be pre-arranged.
Due to the jobholder working within the Yard and working with company plant, we are looking for applicants that are a minimum of 18 years old. A driving licence is preferred, however not essential.
Counter Salesperson
As a Counter Salesperson, you will create a friendly and welcoming environment that encourages return custom, to enable Branch sales and margin growth.
Key Accountabilities:
- Respond positively and effectively to customers’ needs
- Build rapport and be polite and courteous to customers
- Carry out and comply with end of day cashing up procedure
- Comply with company audit requirements
- Source materials needed to meet customers’ requirements
- Agree best possible margin when negotiating with customers
- Cultivate and maintain excellent customer service standards
- Deal with customers complaints effectively and pleasantly
- Assist in company stock counts
- Ensure stock levels are maintained and stock is merchandised
- Be vigilant to prevent loss of product by theft etc
- Be vigilant and report Health and Safety issues
Person profile:
- Demonstrates a positive, friendly and stable attitude
- Is prepared to develop knowledge of the company and its products
- Someone who promotes our culture and values
- Excellent communication, influencing and negotiating skills
- Ability to prioritise responsibilities under pressure
- Confidence to cold call
Knowledge and Experience:
- Excellent IT skills
- Previous Sales Experience (desirable but not essential)

Yard Operative
As a Yard Operative for the company, you will provide a friendly and professional service in a safe and efficient manner, both on and off company premises.
Key Accountabilities:
- Cultivate and maintain exceptional standards of customer service and ensure that Lawsons Best Practice, Company Standards and Company Policies are met.
- Maintain the yard to a high standard of tidiness and cleanliness
- Ensure that stock is replenished, rotated and merchandised
- Assist in company stock counts
- Build rapport, be polite and courteous to customers
- Be vigilant to prevent loss of product by theft etc.
- Be vigilant and report any Health & Safety issues to the line Manager immediately

- Demonstrates a positive, friendly and stable attitude
- Is prepared to develop a knowledge of the company and its products
- Someone who will promote and adhere to the company’s culture, values and professionalism
- Good interpersonal skills, confidence and able to approach customers
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
Knowledge, Experience, Qualifications:
- Basic Literacy and Numeracy skills
- English speaking
