The Role

Working alongside the Internal Auditor for the North Region to review existing audit scope and develop annual working papers to identify risks and determine objectives’.


Key Accountabilities… 

  • Conduct a minimum of one operational audit at each of your branches per year to determine compliance with policies and procedures and the effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Produce audit reports and recommendations with an action plan to review.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of compliance policies and processes.
  • Work closely with the Group Financial Accountant to improve and implement our stocktaking process. Attendance at a selection of stocktakes.
  • Support and train, particularly new staff, on cashing up/banking, stocktaking procedures and other operational functions.
  • Internal Chain of Custody audits for those branches under the scope in line with BM Trada requirements.
  • Trend analysis of cash monitoring functions and investigate attempts of fraud/theft within the business.
  • General day to day banking, cash collecting and petty cash administration.
  • Work closely with new branch management teams and/or new branch set ups to ensure compliance is understood and can be met and offer training where required.
  • Ad hoc projects.


We would love to meet someone with…

  • 3+ years internal audit, finance or merchant experience
  • Educated to HND/A level or equivalent
  • Clean driving license as site travel is essential.
  • Excellent analytical and report writing skills.
  • Proficient in the use of IT systems including Word and Excel
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees from every aspect of the business. A real ‘people person’.
  • Ability to meet deadlines but to also work using own initiative with minimum supervision.
  • Appreciation, acceptance of and a commitment to the importance of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work at different sites depending on the nature of the demands and occasionally weekends.
